Barbara Laage (1920-1988)

  1. Rita Hayworth, The Lady From Shanghai, 1947.      Orson Welles penned Elsa for Laage - his French lover while wed to Hayworth. It was Rita and her Columbia boss, Harry Cohn, who made it a lavish Hayworth A-vehicle - the last thing Welles wanted as he was, yet again, working for free. Wed in 1943, the star couple were divorced when their pulp thriller opened. She had an affair with singer Tony Martin, and Welles with Laage... who  made one Hollywood movie during their affair,  BF's Daughter, 1948, with BS: Barbara Stanwyck.
