Hal Linden Ed Flanders, St Elsewhere, TV, 1982-1988.    Linden passed on Dr Donald Westphal, the  teaching doctor at St Elgius,  Boston’s  most run-down hospital (hence the nickname).  Being Westphal kept Flanders busy for six years.
