George Peppard and Paul Newman passed the shamus investigating the titular Carroll Baker (in her post-Carpetbaggerstrying-to-be-a-sexpot period) to George Maharis. Director David Miller was replaced by veteran workhorse Gordon Douglas, and he replaced Van Fleet with Lindfors. Result: zero movie.
