  1. James Wilby, Maurice, 1987.    “Siesta  was running over time in Spain and there was a mess of scheduling,” said the find of US director James Ivory’s previous  film, A Room With A View.  “I didn’t  like the character anyway.” Wilby had previoiusly been seen for a support role, but dropped by Ivory and his legendary partner, producer Ismail Merchant, because his tall blondness made him look like a Sands II.  Result:  Wilby (and Hugh Grant in Wilby’s original role) won  the  acting prize at  the 1987 Venice festival.

Eric Bogosian, Under Seige 2, 1994.     Two Brits, (Sands, Gary Oldman) and two Yanks (Laurence Fishburne, Jeff Goldblum) refused villainy opposite a hero in, allegedly, a girdle to control his expansive abdomen. Steven Seagal was so fat that his image on the #2 poster came from the #1 poster, circa 1992.
