Afer several little soft-core sex-movies, acteur-realisateur Jean-Marie Pallardy made his “first good film… a great love story about childless couples, surrogate mothers and, sadly, abortion.” The German Schubert, a previous co-star of Montand and Burton, was not free and the Yugoslav Beba, from The Long Ships, became the barren wife let down by the surrogate mother, Dutch actress Willeke Van Ammelrooy. Schubert made Pallardy’s 1979 film, Une femme tres speciale, and then, surprisingly, became a porno star in 1985 at age 41, in 22 hard-core movies in nine years.
