Lilianne David

  1. Michèle Mercier, Tirez sur le pianist (Shoot The Piano Player), France, 1959.       New Wave icon François Truffaut promised his lover the role of Clarisse… until refusing to endanger his private life. He then simply put the blonde Mercier in a black wig… to resemble David. Five years later, Lilianne ended the affair (but never their friendship) “because he has far too many adventures with actresses.” Such as the unknown Claudine Huzé he chose for Léna and re-named after the Audibert novel: Marie Dubois. (Among the many books burnt in Fahrenheit 451 in 1966.) She later wed Truffaut’s copain, the Art Media agent Serge Rousseau.
