Marie Flynn

  1. Elizabeth Taylor,  Lassie Come Home, 1941.  MGM producer Sam Marx chose the kid from Ingrid Bergman’s Intermezzo, 1939. That, however. was a black/white film and the young Marie’s eyes watered in colour lighting.  No problem! Marx shared Beverly Hills’ air-raid duties with a transplanted Englishman, Francis Taylor, who never stopped talking about his beautiful daughter. Recently dropped by Universal, Liz would be dropped no more… even if the film did not open until 1944. Lassie (real name: Pal) was paid $250 per week, its stand-in getting the same (freelance) fee as Taylor: $100.
