Mary Ann Mobley

  1. Yvonne Craig, Batman, TV,  1966-1968.    Batman was losing ground to Lost In Space. Something new was needed. Or, someone. Enter: Batgirl in a seven-minute short to test the waters. Not Batwoman’s sidekick, Betty Kane but Commissioner Gordon’s librarian daughter, Barbara. Mobley quit to join a double-barrelled episode of  Mission: Impossible and passed her cape to Yvonne. She was fine. Just didn’t save the show.  In  her final two TV guest shots, in 1999 and 2003, MAB played… MAB.
  2. Stefanie Powers, Girl From UNCLE, 1966-1967.    She was also   the original UNCLE babe in the 1966 pilot –  replaced by Stefanie in the 29 episode single season series. The role was Cookie Fortune until 007 creator Ian Fleming suggested April Dancer – while consulting on the more successful Man From UNCLE, TV, 1964-1968. (Napoleon Solo had been his original name for Auric Goldfinger).
