Mary Lee

  1. Fay McKenzie, Down Mexico Way, 1940.         Republic took Lee out of this Gene Autry-Smiley Burnette programmer to give her top-billing in “solo pictures.” Hah! Just two of them. Otherwise, she continued riding with Autry until ending her 19-movie career opposite Roy Rogers – billed third after his horse, Trigger! McKenzie had a better run. Following a 1917 debut as a 10-week-old baby in Gloria Swanson’s arms in Station Content, she made 55 other films, from Buck Jones oaters to three consecutive Blake Edwards outings.
