With room for the French-born British beauty Furneaux as Claude Rains’ mistress – Maria Maddalena Masanet – originally intended for the girl from Marlon Brando’s The Wild One, 1953. RA Milland produced the second film directed by R Milland, aka O’Hara’s co-star Ray Milland. Mary won 68 other screen roles – and Furneaux 47… including Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, 1959.
