1. – Lalla Ward, Doctor Who #104: Destiny of the Daleks, TV, 1979. So easy to change Romana. As a Time Lady she could, like the good Doctor (currently, Doc4 Tom Baker), simply regenerate her. She did so in the Season 17 opener, switching into Lalla, channeling her role from #103: The Armageddon Factor, Princess Astra. Mary had trained with Louise Jameson (the previous travelling rug, Leela) at the Royal Academy of Arts. She died from cancer in 2012 – and her husband had a fatal heart attack hours after delivering the eulogy at her funeral.
