  1. Theresa Harris, Jezebel, 1937.  Scarlett O’Hara had Mammy. Bette Davis, as another willful Southern belle, Julie Marsden, had Zette as her maid.  The casting proved a contest between Billie Fargo, Myrtle Anderson and Theresa Harris, who replaced the joyously named Daisy Lee Mothershed. Known  as the black-and-white Gone with the Wind, it was released on  March 26, 1938 – the day I was born.
