That gave time to bolster Lauren Bacall’s role   (“A lot depends on who’s in the saddle”) and other scenes such as the climax in Eddie Mars’ hideout…. where John Ridgely’s Eddie suddenly had a new wife: Knudsen succeeding Clarke’s ’45 footage.
