Peter Stephens

  1. Carl Jaffe,  The Roman Spring  of Mrs Stone, 1961.  Although few critics agreed, this film of his only novel was Tennessee Williams’ favourite movie of his work. Stephens, a Brazil -born  Brit was selected for the Baron  Waldheim… but finally switched to Campbell Kennedy. Mrs Stone is as ageing actress falling for a gigolo in Rome.. She was, of course, Vivien Leigh.  Like who else?  …
  2. Henry McCarty,  The Roman Spring  of Mrs Stone, 1961.    … and  also for Campbell Kennedy.  Poor McCarty was actually credited as McCarthy. (Good to know it’s not only me who makes typos).
