Pierre Vaneck

1. – Jean-Marc Bory, Les  amants, France, 1958.   The Vietnam-born actor told New Wave cineaste Louis Malle that he was  just not interested in love scenes.

2. – Sami Frey, La vérité/The Truth, France, 1960.  Said much the  same when Old Wave realisateur Henri-Georges Clouzot pressured  him to be Brigitte Bardot’s lover. Plus he didn’t think much of the script. “After that,  the cinema rejected me. Never made a big hit. I  was never at ease in  films. I prefer the theatre where I never have to look at myself.”
