Roberto Benigni

1. – Lionel Abelanski, Train de vie, France, 1998.  French producers sent Romanian Radu Mihailenu’s script to Italy’s triple-threat  box-office king. Too late! He  was  into his own concentration camp black-comedy, La vita e bella/Life Is Beautiful. Benigni is only the second actor (after Olivier!) to direct himself to an Oscar (the first Best Actor Oscar for a foreign language film) and the sixth to direct himself a Razzie for Worst Actor – in 2003 for  his horrendous Pinocchio.
