Sidney Blackmer

  1. Dean Jagger, King Creole, 1957.  Elvis Presley’s fourth movie – and one of his finest. However, producer Hal B Wallis  was alarmed by the high  salary  of Jagger as  Presley’s father (!).  And started checking other veterans: Sidney Blackmer and John McIntire. Often a villain, Blackmer also played Teddy Roosevelt seven times. That’s more often than Robin Williams…  NB Blackmer was born in Salisbury, North Carolina; I began in journalism on the Salisbury Journal, in Wiltshire. UK.
