1. – Peter Tork, The Monkees, TV, 1966-68. The Texan singer took part in the Pre-Fab Four auditions and (a) the producers felt  he looked too old, what with his hair (and teeth) falling out and (b) Sills was not about to giving publishing  rights  of his songs to  Columbia Pictures.  “I know who ya need…” and he  recommended a pal (and ex-roommate) who looked rather like him – except for the  disappearing hair. And  he could walk the walk and talk the Tork.
