Sunny Deol

1. – Shah Rukh Khan, Darr, India, 1993.      Action star son of a Bollywood cinema legend, Dharmendra, Sunny was offered the choice of roles. Unwisely, he went for the good guy, while critics, public (and soon enough producers galore) went crazy over Khan’s his star-making stalker.

2. – Asmir Khan, Aatank Hi Aatank, India, 1995.      Due to budget problems, the film finally rolled three years after it was announced for Sunny – opposite the eventual star, Rajnikant.

3. – Anil Kapoor, Trimurti, India, 1995. Not interested in taking over when the original actor, Sanjay Dutt, was jailed. (Ironically, the film had the heroine being imprisoned).

4. – Arjun Rampal, Dil Ha Turnhaara (My Heart Is Yours), India, 2002. A decade earlier, director Rajkumar Santoshi announced the film for Deol, Salman Khan, Meenakshi Seshadfri. Shekhar Kapur, Dimple Kapadia. New helmer Kundan Shah dumbed – and younged – the whole mess down for Rampal, Jimmy Shergill, Rekha, a beastly Govind Namdeo and shining Mahima Chaudhry.

5. – Salman Khan, Garve: Pride and Honour, India, 2004.      Sunny (Bobby’s elder brother) passed the good and honest Mumbai inspector to Salman.
