  1. Rod Cameron, Boss of Boomtown, 1943.     Singer Ritter and director Lewis D Collins first signed for the Universal ater, until Cameron moved in with helmer Ray Taylor. Nothing else changed, this was still a programmer.
  2.  Ben Johnson, The Last Picture Show, 1971. Another vet cowpoke roped himself an Oscar by replacing the 30s/40s B-movie cowboy star, best known for singing the Oscar-winning High Noon song, 1952. His son, John Ritter, was also being considered for Sonny in director Peter Bogdanovich’s film.
