The Three Stooges

  1. The Ritz Brothers, Blazing Stewardesses, 1975.    Or Boss Stooge Moe Howard -with his new partners, Joe DeRita and Emil Sitka, were replaced when Moe died by the two surviving Brothers, Harry and Jimmy (Al died in 1965) with a dance routine dating back to Sing Baby Sing, 1935, in their first film since 1943 – a madcap cock tail of Naughty Stewardesses Meet Blazing Saddles. Made by Z-movie director Al Adamson and writer-produer Samuel M Sherman. While Ed Wood had Bela Lugosi, these tits ‘n’ terror schlockmeisters had John Carradine (drunk but word perfect), Lon Chaney Jr (unable to speak due to throat cancer), J Carrol Naish (in a wheelchair and with a glass eys, so the other was seen moving from left to right to read his cue cards), Yvonne De Carlo, Russ Tamblyn and Mrs AA, scream queen Regina Carrol. As per normal for these guys, the film was re-issued under new ttitles,The Great Truck Robbery and California Cowgirls. You didn’t know you’d seen it until after paying for your seat!  Adamson was murdered, not by an angry  customer, but his handy-man in 1995.  All is told  in David Gregory’s  excellent docu, Blood & Flesh: The Reel Life & Ghastly Death of Al Adamson…. so funny at times, it seems like Woody Allen had made Hollywood Danny Rose.
