Ultra Violet

  1. Dianne Hall, The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart, 1969. MGM goes Warhol. Or nearly… The New York Times reported the film of Robert T Westbrook’s semi-autobiographical novel would star four Factory stars – Violet, Joe Dallesandro, transexual Candy Darling and Gerard Malanga. Never happened! The convent-raised French bourgeois heiress Isabelle Collin Dufresne (exorcised at age 13!) met Andy Warhol via her relationship with Salvador Dali. Andy renamed her Ultra Violet and she made 18 movies from I, A Man to Midnight Cowboy before becoming a globally exhibited “political-spiritual visual artist.” Dianne Hall was a major Method acting teacher in LA after 22 screen roles, from Elia Kazan’s The Arrangement to… The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking. (One Warhol “star” was seen – glimpsed – in the film: Geri Miller).
