1. – Peter Lorre,  Mr Moto’s Gamble, 1938. What  began as Oland’s 16th Charlie Chan film was shut down due to his health (mental and physical). “Mind like parachute – only function when open…”  Due to the success of Lorre’s Mr Moto series, Fox simply churned Chinese Chan into Japanese Moto. Oland recovered enough to sign a new Chan deal but died before returning to work..
