Zeppo Marx

  1. Allan Jones, A Night at the Opera, 1935.    Finally the Bros dropped the fourth and most wooden sibling – and used a real (and handsome singer) in Jones. One MGM legend insists that on hearing Zeppo was out, production chief Irving Thalberg asked if this meant the remaining threesome would agree to  a pay cut. Quick as a ferret, Groucho replied:  “Without Zeppo we’re worth twice as much.”
