James Franco, 127 Hours, 2010. TV stud Luke Perry enjoyed setting up films for his pals – old castmates from Beverly Hills 90210. After making a TV Western, Goodnight For Justice, with Jason Priestley, the next idea was Brian for adventurer Aron Ralston’s five-day battle for life when trapped by a boulder in a Utah canyon. “I tried to acquire the rights to that story,” said Perry, “I thought Brian would be great in that part, but Danny Boyle got it.”

Probably the sole contender who was an life long fan of the DC comic hero (well, he was a Green, too), Brian tried hard to become the first earthling in the Green Lantern Corps – created by Bill Finger and Martin Nodell in All-American Comics #16, July 1940. Game over! Recently, we’ve seen Marlon Brando leading Jack Nicholson by one or two movies he chose not to make – and then, almost immediately, vice-versa. The gap is much wider now. We’ve found two more titles for Jack – Wall Street, Scent of a Woman - and just one extra for Marlon (The Killer Inside Me). Result: Jack now tops the league with 179 films compared to Brando’s 173. A BOND MISS

It’s more doubtful that the next Bond will be Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Not because his name is longer than any 007 title. But from August (and instead of Adam Driver, Brad Pitt, Keanu Reeve or John David Washington,) he has his own Marvel to nuture,. Kraven the Hunter – fifth film in the Spideyverse. (Aaron was an Amazing Spider-Man contender in 2010). He’s also into the WWII bomb heist, Fuze, and joins M-that-was, Ralph Fiennes, in the 28 Years Later chapter from Danny Boyle – who, of course, directed Daniel Craig and his ultimate Bond Girl, The Queen, for the 2012 London Olympics.
