  1. Michael Palin, Around The World In 80 Days, TV, 1989.        While shooting A Fish Called Wanda, preparing American Friends and getting interest in his script of The Weekend, Palin was asked to recreate Phileas Fogg’s journey – on surface transport only, accompanied by two film crews for a series of seven 50-minute BBC documentaries. What Palin eagerly grabbed as the “chance of a lifetime” had been rejected by TV game show host Noel Edmonds and journalists Clive James, Miles Kington – and by Whicker,  the veteran master of BBC travel docus that now Palin made his own.
