Allison Hayes

  1. Mara Corday, Foxfire, 1954.  Corday told told writer Tom Weaver that director Joseph Pevney had chosen Hayes to be Dan Duryea’s nurse but Univerral insisted on Mara. (Both women were under contract to the studio; in fact Hayes made her debut the year before opposite Corday inFrancis Joins the WASCS). After 40 screen roles in ten years, Mara made her last four movies with Clint Eastwood – she’d headliened his debut, Tarantula, in 1954. So there she was – Makemycorday! – in The Rookie, Pink Cadillac, Sudden Impact, The Gauntlet. But not the one reversing this title into Firefox.
  2. Yvonne De Carlo, The Ten Commandments, 1954.
  3. Betsy Jones-Moreland, Last Woman On Earth, 1959.     Probably because of her 1957 cult item, Attack of the 50ft Woman, producer Roger Corman wanted Allison in the title  role…Then,  he saw Betsy in an LA play.   She finished her  carreer of 63 screen roles as the judge in several Perry Mason tele-films with Raymond Burr.
