1. – Rex Harrison, Major Barbara, 1941. James Mason was told the role was his yet Osborne started the shoot. George Bernard Shaw was not impressed and sent a note to Gabriel Pascal: “You might as well try to teach differential calculus to an umbrella stand.” Mason was called back and given the script, yet Harrison made the film. Osborne was never heard of again.
