- Om Shivpuri. Jalian Wala Bagh, India, 1977. The much troubled film about the infamous 1919 massacre was begun by the acclaimed Indian director Hrishikesh Mukherjee. With a cast headed by father-and-son actors Balraj and Parikshat Sahni. Then, Balraj died and the project was shelved. Years later, the producer Balrag Tah picked up the pieces and directed Shipuri – plus crowd-pleasers Vinod Khann and Deepti Naval. Except the real star was Parikshat as the assassin of the man behind the massacre – and the finished film remained unreleased for ten years.
