Basil Radford

  1. Wilfrid Hyde-White, The Third Man, 1948. Graham Greene wrote two UK exiles running a literary discussion group for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1937 couple from The Lady Vanishes… Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne (my father’s favouite comedy duo) as Caldicott and Charters. Hyde White was a solo (and cheaper) Crabbin. Such a hit, Charters and Caldicott also turned up in Night Train To Munich, Millions Like Us and two BBC Radio serials.
