Cara Williams

  1. Edie Adams, It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, 1963.    Producer-director Stanley Kramer’s movie was stuffed full with stars – mainly comics. Not all agreed to join  the party, being terrified at the prospect of working with the great Spencer Tracy.   Williams,  who won her own TV series  two years later, was invited to be Monica Crump, aka Ernie Kovacs’ wife. Then, Ernie was killed in a car smash. Kramer asked his widow, Edie (booked for Emeline) to stay aboard as Monica (opposite Sid Caesar). She promptly agreed in order to help pay hubby’s debts.  Which she did.
