Clarence Kolb

Henry O’Neill, Jezebel, 1937.    The Warner Bros Daily Production and Progress Reports confirm that  Walter C Kelly, Clarence Kolb and  Brandon Tynan tested for General Theopholus Bogardus, guardian of the “high-headed and wilful” Southern belle Bette Davis.  Cleveland-born,Kolb went from a vaudeville comedy duo (Kolb and Dill) to winning 66 Hollywood roles, such as the fast-talking judge in the 1939 Cary Grant classic, His Girl Friday. The  film known as the black-and-white Gone with the Wind!   It was released on March 26, 1938 – the day I was born. Minus a ticket.
