Dorothy Dell

  1. Carole Lombard, Now and Forever, 1934.  Lombard became  Gary Cooper’s new wife following  the shock, car crash death of Dell, just 19 and about to wed the love of her life, caricaturist Nat Carr. Dell beat another Dorothy – Lamour –  to Miss New Orleans in 1930 (Lamour won in ’31) and was a Ziegfeld Girl when snapped up by Paramount.  Irene Dunne, among other stars, refused to use Dorothy’s dressingroom #101 at Paramount – jinxed! – originally built for Pola Negri.
