Edward Van Sloane

  1. Colin Clive, Frankenstein, 1930.      Robert Florey directed the long-lost, 20 minute tests of Bela Lugosi as The Monster – opposite Van Sloan as the mad Dr F. Universal kept Florey anf Lugosi but dumped Van Sloan in favour of Leslie Howard. Then, James Whale took over the movie with the now iconic Clive and Boris Karloff. Plus Van Sloane as Frankenstein’s old mentor, Dr Waldman. He became a regular support in Universal horrors like Van Helsing in Dracula and Dr Muller in The Mummy.
