Moore later beat Bette Davis to the role of Nana in Paul Muni’s Life of Zola, 1937.  After a silent career and beyond, Welles  (a painter and pilot) was signed by Warners as Julie Bishop in 1940 (after being Diane Duval on-stage), for films with Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, Alan Ladd, John Wayne
