Fred Perry

  1. Edward Everett Horton, Top Hat, 1935.     Hollywood called up the elegant tennis ace (the World #1 for five years, four consecutively, 1934-38 and the last Englishman to win Wimbledon) to be the equally suave stage producer in the film that (like King Kong) saved RKO from bankruptcy, being second only to Mutiny on the Bounty for the year. Rather than turn actor, Fred wed the first of three wives, Hollywood star Helen Vinson.
