  1. Roy Rogers, Under Western Skies, 1937. Wisely changing his real name Leonard Slye, Dick Wesson had Western bits, including a baddy stint opposite Autry, the King of the Singing Cowboys, the saddled Sinatras.When Autry refusedto show for this Republic oater, Wesson took over with his new name and new Palomino horse, Golden Cloud – quickly re-named Trigger. Once Autry joined WWII in 1942, he was deposed by Rogers. The two multi-millionaire cowpoke rivals died within months of each other in 1998.
