Gillian Hills

  1. Jeanne Valérie, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, France, 1959.     Too young.  Far too young, screamed British tabloids when Roger Vadim signed her at 14 for Cécile de Volanges.  She hid out in the cast as one of Cécile’s chums. “I never really thought of being an actress. All I expected from Vadim was his autograph. The part was too daring. Far too daring for  me at any rate.”  She grew to be more daring – sharing the English-speaking cinema’s first  female full-frontals with Jane Birkin in Antonioni’s Blow Up, 1966.  Gillian later recorded French  songs by Serge Gainsbourg…  some years before he met and wed Jane!
