  1. Zasu Pitts, The Gay Bride, 1934.   Never a star, Jewell called herself “the most unsuccessful successful actress in Hollywood.”  Including being the white trash Emily Slattery in Gone With The Wind, 1938.Jewell lost Mirabelle here to Una Merkel who, in turn, lost it to a wise-cracking Pitts in the film that had already lost a Red Dustreunion of Clark Gable and Jean Harlow: they became Chester Morris and Carole Lombard – who wed Gable in 1939. (Jewell and Morris were later matched in I’ve Been Around).
