Jack Klugman

1. – Walter Matthau, The Odd Couple, 1968.      Klugman was considered  when  Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau were too expensive a couple – if Billy Wilder was directing. In his first run-in with Paramount, new production chief Robert Evans refused cut-price stars.  He cut Billy Wilder, instead!  In 1970, Klugman beat Mickey Rooney to the Oscar role  for five Paramount TV years – and on stage again in the 90s – with Tony Randall.

2. – Jackie Cooper, Superman, 1978.
