Michael Ealy, Barbershop, 2002.  “If we can’t talk straight in a barbershop, then where can we talk straight?” The Virginian audtiioned for Ricky and the  star, Ice Cube, preferred  him as Kevin , for the last day of  a  South Side Chicago barber’s.  Seven barbers (six men, one woman; six blacks, one white)  no waiting. And all the chat is about sex and/or avoiding going back inside for life…   Everyone returned for the  2003 sequel.  Chicago critic Roger Ebert compared then both to “a talk show where everybody is the host.”
