Prepping what proved his final film, François Truffaut nearly offered the role of an enigmatic priest to the novelist, Le Nouvel Observateur arts critic and Simone Signoret’s confidant. Eva Truffaut, second daughter of the realisateur extraordinaire, pushed for the actor from Jacques Rivette films. Josselin made his acting debut the following year in Rive droite, rive gauche.
