Jean Murat

1. – Raimu, Marius, France, 1931. Following Ramiu’s  career-making success as César on stage (he was first offered Panisse, who has far more dialogue), Paramount’s citizen (Robert) Kane suggested a film without him!  Indeed, he wanted Francophile Alexander Korda to direct various Paramount pactees – like the Perigeux-born Murat, in movies since 1920. The trilogy made Raimu an international name – and  paid for his “bureau,” his Paris apartment close to  the film biz restaurant, Fouquet’s,  at  8 rue Balzac.
