The Marseilles actor from Gendarme 5 was unavailable for #6… which saw the sudden hospitalisation of realisateur Jean Girault and his death months after his assistant, Tony Aboyantz, finished helming the comedy. And the series star, the stutter, splutter, mutter, nutter comic who ate scenery as if it were ratatouille, was looking like death… and died at 68 three months after the release. He had made 156 films in 36 years – including a staggering 15 in 1950!
