John Amos

1. – John Khani, The Grass Is Singing, Sweden-Zambia, 1980.  A genuine South African  actor replaced the Roots star as the houseboy ending the doomed marriage of  farmer Anthony Hopkins and Glenda Jackson. Then the entire production of Doris Lessing’s first novel changed hands and cast.

2. – Samuel L Jackson, National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon, 1993.  Amos had  the weight for the Lethal Weapon spoof. Jackson had the clout – first winner of a Cannes festival supporting actor prize in 1991.
