John Osborne

1. –  TP McKenna, The Charge of the Light Brigade, 1968. The playwright, who had started as an actor, quit his role as  Russell of The Times after a copyright row over his script for  director Tony Richardson.

2. – David Warner, A Doll’s House, 1973.  Director Joseph Losey offered the role of  Jane Fonda’s draconian  husband,  Torvald Helmer.  Too close to home.
