John Ratzenberger

  1. George Wendt, Cheers, TV, 1982-1993.        He auditioned for Norm. Well actually for George before he was churned into Norm. Just a one-word role (“Beer!”) in the pilot. Ratzenberger suggested the bar needed a know-it-all – “every bar has one.”   He improvised such a pain, the producers loved it, the writers created Cliff Clavin – a cop until someone suggested a postman would have more of what Cliff called Little Known Facts.   Here’s one: Cheers helped give time for the Seinfeld to build and take off – another show with a George… and a mailman!
