Italian maestro Dario Argento wanted his hero to be Vittorio De Sica’s 1970 discovery for Il giardino dei Finzi Contini (The Garden of the Finzi-Continis). He sent Lino a script. They made a date to talk turkey. But on his way to the meet, the actor was involved in a bad car accident. Hemmings became not only hot but available. Much later when Capolicchio went to collect his repaired vehicle, he found Argento’s script still in it… covered in blood. Like an Argento film.
