Mae Whitman

  1. Lucy Hale, Bionic Woman, TV, 2007.   Booked and then released from the role of bionic Jamie Sommers’ kid sister, Becca.  In one of three vedsions  of the pilot (of the flop series), Becca was deaf – annoying hearing-impaired rights groups on discovering the actress wasn’t deaf. (She wasn’t really blind when playing a newly sightless girl in  Lost in  the Dark, 2007). The new sis (sans hearing difficulties) was Disney’s voice  of Shanti in  Jungle Book 2, and the first ever voice of Tinker Belle in the 2007 movie and following series.
  2. Shaileene Woodley, The Fault In Our Stars2013.   For author John Green’s moving  love  story of two victims in a cancer support group, Liberato, Hailee Steinfeld, Marty Kate Wiles were seen for Hazel – who became the superb Woodley opposite her (idem) Divergent brother, Ansel Elgort.
  3. Maika Monroe,  Independence Day: Resurgence, 2015.    When a studio waits 20 years to OK a sequel – as if there was anything left for Fox to blow up! – there are bound to be changes.  Hence Whitman’s Patricia became Monroe. Not that, apparently, anyone officially informed Whitman of this change.
