Max Adrian

  1. Theodore Bikel, My Fair Lady, 1964.     Very late in the day, Bikel took over from Adrian as Zoltan Karpathy – a previous, Hungarian pupil of Professor Henry Higgins, first added to the cast of the 1937 UK film of Pygmalion, and based by playwright George Bernard Shaw on his producer, the Transilvanian Gabriel Pascal.
  2. Hugh Burdern, Funeral In Berlin, 1966.     The old-school Irish thespian – he was more than An Ac-tor! – passed Hallam to the lower-key Burden in the second Michael Caine outing as British spy, Palmer, Harry Palmer.
